The problem with generic drivers on linux is that neither Nvidia(nor Intel) did love sharing the Blueprints for their proprietary drivers to the Open-Source Community. Note that you need proprietary drivers installed + Xorg.Īs far as I can tell, Unbuntu doesn't allow Proprietary Drivers So you're stuck to Generic Open-Source drivers. Moving to archlinux, the solution was simple as adding this to the /X11/etc/conf.xorg file: Either just move away from those type of OSes OR start using AMD GPUs & CPUs if you're really that obsessed with free open-source software. These systems are not Nvidia/Intel Friendly. I'm not sure if they made any of this easier on unbuntu system, some linux OSes don't support proprietary drivers and there's the issue. You could install proprietary drivers on Unbuntu, but it requires updating the System to use an actual Nvidia Kernel, which in turn doesn't support all GPUs available, +Plus you need to manually compile the Kernel, yadda yadda. Does anyone knows a application on linux for this?ĮDIT: The problem happens because there are only Open-Source Drivers for Nvidia GPUs under systems like Unbuntu, so the solution was to move to Arch-Linux and use the available proprietary drivers. I've been lurking for a while on the internet, and didn't got much help. How to control GPU Fan in Linux, i used to have MSI Afterburner on Windows to be able to control my Nvidia GPU Fan because of overheating in gaming.
